Grade 12’s Have you bought your Prom ticket yet?Prom Guest forms have now been emailed home, if you have not received one, they are available in the front office as well.  These forms must be signed in order to bring a guest to Prom that does not go to Belmont.

CFB Esquimalt has food service job opportunities for the summer in their various galleys though out Base Foods.  The job entails preparing, presenting and delivering food including lunches, sandwiches and dinners, cleaning and operating food service facilities and equipment and operating a cash register.

Please see the Career Centre for an application package.  Applications are due back to the Career Centre by May 22, 1012.

Please come to the Career Centre to check to make sure you have completed your Grad Transitions.  There is a list of students who are missing all or part of their Grad Transitions.  This list is posted outside Mrs. Glanfield's office door.

Dear Parents, (EDITED TO OMIT ANY REFERENCE TO SPECIFIC TRAVEL ORGANIZATIONS)

It is already the time of year when many non-school sanctioned "student trips" are marketed to our Grads of 2013 by outside organizations. Please be aware that we do not endorse these trips and will not allow advertising or promotion to occur in any form at Belmont. As a school we warn parents about these trips. Each year a number of "vacation" packages are offered to high school students which are not chaperoned by adults. These trips are often organized for university students but marketed to secondary students. They are usually in a third world vacation destination like Mexico or Cuba where drinking and night club age restrictions are not enforced. If you pay, you play… 

You should be aware that serious incidents have occurred on a number of these Spring Break trips. Students return telling stories of waking up in the morning on the beach after drinking with no memory of the night before. Warnings are all over the internet about being robbed or sexually assaulted, and stories like the murder of Natalie Holloway need to be taken seriously. Be sure to educate yourself about the websites which talk about "Chaperones and Tour Guides" or itineraries that suggest students will be with hundreds of other students like them. Most trips include large numbers of college students staying at the same hotels and include admissions to nightclubs.

Please be aware that the Belmont only markets the fully chaperoned, School District approved trips like the one to Spain a few weeks ago for Spring Break 2012.
