Secondary students from Belmont Secondary, Edward Milne Community School, Royal Bay Secondary and Westshore Secondary participated in a Health Care Careers Exploratory Day held at the John Horgan Campus on March 5.
In partnership with Island Health, Camosun College and the Justice Institute of British Columbia, the event gave students the opportunity to explore a wide range of health care career pathways. Throughout the day, students rotated through interactive sessions led by professionals working in areas such as pediatrics, neurosciences, porter services, labour and delivery, rehabilitation, laboratory services, pharmacy, nutrition services, social work, emergency care, food services and recruitment.
Students were able to connect with health care professionals, learn about what their day-to-day work looks like, hear about their career journeys and discover the education and training required for different roles within the health care system.
The event provided students with a valuable opportunity to explore future career possibilities while learning more about the many rewarding pathways available in health care. For more information about exploring a path in health care, contact your school-based Career's team.
